Pinterest-Level Holiday Plumbing Decorations For Your Home
Creative Holiday Pipe Decorations
For those who love the holiday season, or decorating for anything, Pinterest becomes the name of the game. People turn to social media channels and blogs for inspiration to make their home a bit more “homey,” especially around the holidays. Certain things are easy to decorate such as the shelves around the house or the plate sets sitting on the table.
But there are several aspects of the home that can be more challenging to decorate like plumbing fixtures and pipes. Unsightly plumbing fixtures can turn into a homeowner’s nightmare when they have guests over. How can those pipes be covered?
Don’t fear! There are many ways to decorate the plumbing pipes this holiday season. Homeowners just need to put on their creative thinking cap and have a little inspiration to get started. So here are a few ideas!
Decorating the Outdoor Plumbing Pipes
If the pipes are along the side of the house, try covering them with a trellis and a few leafy greens or vines. The vines will grow up into the trellis making it even harder to see the outdoor plumbing, while also adding more greenery to the yard.
If the plumbing apparatus consists of a well cover or something else that lays on the ground, grab a wheelbarrow from the garage, put a few decorations in it, and park it over the in-ground plumbing. Both of these ideas will help detract from the outdoor plumbing eyesores that many homes have.
Decorating the Kitchen Faucet
A kitchen faucet is not nearly as big of an eyesore as outdoor plumbing, but many people still like to dress them up. The kitchen is usually one of the most decorated rooms of a house during the holidays, so it makes sense that some people want to decorate every little piece they can get their hands on. One idea for the DIY people of the family is to try sewing together a decorative tube of fabric that fits over the faucet spout.
For example, they may sew together a tube of brown fabric, glue on pipe cleaners for antlers, a couple of googly eyes, and a pom-pom for a nose and wha-la! It’s Rudolph on the kitchen faucet! For those who don’t want to put something directly on the faucet, place decorations behind it instead. Whether it’s a few candles or a small plant, it will draw the eye to the decoration itself rather than to the faucet in front of it.
Decorating the Bathroom Plumbing
Maybe there will even be a Santa curtain with a cut-out face for anyone in the shower to peep out through. The toilet seat also can make for a great piece of decoration. Tape on some wrapping paper and a bow, and it will look just like a present under the tree.
But for a bit more sophisticated design, take advantage of the toilet bowl cover. Placing a candle, wreath, or other small decorative items on top of the cover will make the toilet look like it’s from a holiday magazine.
